Le Cnam relies on VisionsTrust, operator of the Skills & Education Data Space, to enhance immersive virtual reality (VR) training programs. By interconnecting the Mimbus and UbiCast solutions, this project enables educators to thoroughly analyse students’ performance during VR simulations involving technical skills. This service integrates into LMSs via a plug-in, giving educators direct access to VR session data. They can then visualise, leverage, and analyse the information to track student progress and personalise skill training. Thanks to this immersive technology, evaluation becomes more precise, interactive, and tailored to each learner.

    How it works

    Thanks to the Skills & Education Data Space, the VR learning analytics Video4XR project enhances the analysis of performance in virtual reality.

    • Simulation data collection: Le Cnam uses immersive simulators from Mimbus and Widid within its LMS to offer students VR training sessions that automatically generate valuable learning data.
    • Session recording and capture: Mimbus processes video replays and xAPI learning traces generated during the simulations to provide a pedagogical capture service, which is then shared with Ubicast. Meanwhile, Widid supplies immersive simulation traces to feed the enriched replay generation service, also transmitted to Ubicast.
    • Video analysis and annotation: Ubicast processes all data from Le Cnam, Mimbus, and Widid to produce enriched videos. The replays are automatically chaptered and annotated, highlighting key moments from the simulations to facilitate pedagogical analysis.
    • Access and interaction via LMS: Ubicast sends the enriched content to Le Cnam’s LMS, allowing both teachers and students to access, comment on, and interact with the material.
